In 1974, Salvador Dali created the "Tribe of Reuben", a hand pulled stone lithograph representing one of the twelve sons of the Patriarch, Jacob, from who came the Twelve Tribes of Israel.

Born in Figures, Spain, Salvador Dali was a prominent Spanish Surrealist artist and one of the more influential painters of the 20th century. He was highly imaginative and enjoyed indulging in unusual and grandiose behavior. As a young boy, his mother greatly encouraged his artistic endeavors. Later in life, to the dismay of those who held his work in high esteem, and to the irritation of his critics, Dali's bizarre manner and attention-grabbing public actions gained him a great deal of publicity. He was an expert draftsman, best known for the remarkable and often peculiar images in his surrealist work. Salvador Dali's expansive artistic repertoire included, but was not limited to lithography, sketching, painting, sculpture, architecture, fashion and even film.
